Oldham Parole and Probation
Parole and mandatory supervision follow a Texas prison sentence. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, or BPP, makes release decisions under state law, while the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Division supervises an approved person in the community. Probation is different. Texas statutes call it community supervision. A sentencing court imposes it, and a Community Supervision and Corrections Department, known as a CSCD, administers the order.
Neither status proves the date someone physically left Oldham County Jail or a TDCJ unit. The jail or prison release record supplies that event. Supervision records describe the legal relationship after release. A person can leave the Oldham jail on bond without parole or probation. Another person can leave state prison on parole and remain in TDCJ legal custody until discharge.
| Question | Parole or mandatory supervision | Probation or community supervision |
|---|---|---|
| Who orders or decides it? | BPP acts under Texas release law. | The sentencing court enters the order. |
| Who administers it? | TDCJ Parole Division. | The serving judicial-district CSCD. |
| What came before? | A Texas prison term. | A court case, sometimes with confinement suspended or followed by supervision. |
| Best starting record | TDCJ number, SID, TDCJ status, and BPP result. | Judgment or supervision order and cause number. |
| How does it end? | TDCJ discharge or other lawful termination. | Court or CSCD completion and discharge record. |
The distinction controls where to ask. Sending an Oldham probation question to a TDCJ parole office can produce no useful result, even when the person is outside jail under strict conditions.
Oldham Supervision Terms Defined
Texas agencies use terms that mark different points in a sentence. Read the exact label on the source record. Similar words can imply very different custody or supervision states.
- Parole
- Conditional release from state prison under TDCJ Parole Division supervision before full sentence discharge.
- Mandatory supervision
- A statutory release path combining calendar time and eligible good time, subject to exclusions and BPP review rules.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision administered through a CSCD, not by BPP.
- Discharge
- The formal end of the sentence or supervision obligation shown by the responsible agency or court.
- Absconder
- A supervision term for a person alleged to have stopped reporting or whose whereabouts are unknown; verify any warrant directly.
- Revocation
- A process that may end community supervision and return a person to custody after an alleged violation.
“Released” is not the same as “discharged.” A parolee has left prison but remains under legal supervision. A favorable BPP vote is earlier still. It may authorize release subject to conditions, programs, or processing without showing that the prison departure occurred.
Verify Oldham Post-Release Supervision
Begin with identity and custody path. A TDCJ or State Identification number is safer than a name-only match for parole. A cause number is the best key for an Oldham probation order. County residence by itself does not prove which parole or CSCD office has the active assignment.
- Determine whether the person left Oldham County Jail, a TDCJ prison, or another system. Obtain the release or transfer record when that point is unclear.
- For parole or mandatory supervision, use the TDCJ parole information route. Search with a TDCJ or SID number when available and compare the full identity.
- For a case under review, contact BPP status at 844-512-0461 with the person's full name, TDCJ number, and date of birth as requested.
- After a favorable vote, contact Review and Release Processing at 512-406-5202 to ask whether physical release processing is complete.
- For probation, obtain the judgment or community-supervision order from the Oldham County/District Clerk. Read the term, court, cause number, and serving CSCD.
- Confirm the current office assignment with TDCJ or the CSCD before relying on a geographic directory entry.
VINE may provide a custody or release event from a participating agency. It does not establish the full supervision term. TDCJ's Integrated Victim Services System may provide confidential state custody and parole notifications. Neither replaces the parole record, court order, or discharge document.
Oldham Parole Office Assignment
The official county crosswalk maps Oldham County to the Amarillo District Parole Office in Region V. This is the correct geographic starting point for state parole or mandatory-supervision questions tied to Oldham. It does not mean every person convicted in Oldham reports there. TDCJ may assign supervision according to an approved residence and case needs, so confirm the actual unit before giving reporting directions.
Amarillo District Parole Office, Region V
5809 South Western Street, Suite 120
Amarillo, TX 79110
Phone: 806-355-9218
Fax: 806-353-9572
The BPP Amarillo Board Office is a separate office at the same street address in Suite 200. It handles board functions and correspondence for cases assigned to that board office. It is not the district reporting office and does not prove that every Oldham conviction is assigned there. Prison unit assignment, rather than county of conviction alone, can affect BPP case handling.
Probation takes another route. TDCJ's Community Justice Assistance Division groups Oldham with Deaf Smith for CSCD purposes, but CSCD staff are local judicial-district employees, not TDCJ parole officers. Confirm the current probation office and assignment through the directory or the Oldham clerk before directing anyone to report.
Oldham Parole Review Results
Texas does not hold a conventional formal hearing for ordinary parole or mandatory-release consideration. BPP members review the file and vote in sequence. A three-person panel reaches a final result when two votes agree. There is no public person-by-person courtroom calendar to browse for Oldham cases. The individual review status is the useful schedule.
TDCJ generally identifies initial cases before eligibility and later cases before the next review, but eligibility is only the first lawful review point. It is not a promised release date. BPP result codes also contain more detail than “approved” or “denied.” The official vote options include FI codes for approval with timing or program steps, RMS for mandatory supervision, NR codes for denial with later review, SA codes for serve-all outcomes within the applicable limits, and DMS for denial of mandatory supervision.
Quote the code exactly and translate only what the current BPP definition supports. A favorable decision may be withdrawn if new information arrives. Program prerequisites or other processing can remain. Call the BPP status line for review and result information, then use Review and Release Processing after approval. The latter is the better source for whether the prison release process has finished.
Oldham Supervision Warrants and Violations
No comprehensive public TDCJ parole-absconder locator for ordinary parolees was found. The Texas DPS Most Wanted list is selective and cannot substitute for direct verification. If an absconder or parole-warrant question matters, contact the assigned parole office, check the jail and court record if a new arrest occurred, or request releasable TDCJ records.
A supervision condition is a rule imposed by the responsible authority. Alleged noncompliance can prompt investigation, a warrant, changed conditions, an intermediate response, or revocation proceedings. A parole warrant can return a released person to custody. It does not erase the fact of the earlier release. Probation allegations proceed through the sentencing court and serving CSCD rather than through BPP's parole process.
Administrative revocation hearings are distinct from BPP release review. A preliminary hearing may address probable cause. A revocation hearing can result in continued or changed supervision, another response, or return to prison under the applicable standards. For probation, obtain the motion, warrant, and court order from the Oldham case file. Do not infer a warrant from a missing online result.
Note: Verify a claimed warrant with the responsible agency or court because a selective list, stale alert, or name match is not enough.
Correct Oldham Release Calculations
Texas separates a question about a TDCJ time or release calculation from a request for copies. When a displayed projected date, release date, or discharge date appears wrong, TDCJ Classification and Records handles the individual calculation inquiry at 936-437-6231 or classify@tdcj.texas.gov. The TDCJ Records Management information identifies that route.
A Public Information Act request serves a different purpose. It seeks existing documents from the agency. It does not ask staff to recalculate time or correct a record. Keep the inquiry and the document request separate. Supply the person's full name, TDCJ or SID number, and the specific date or field in dispute. State why the source records appear inconsistent without asking the records office for a legal opinion.
For probation, use the Oldham judgment, modifications, revocation orders, and discharge filing rather than TDCJ Classification and Records. The sentencing court and serving CSCD control that path. A county jail release-time disagreement should go to the sheriff for the operational release record and to the court for the legal order.
Oldham Supervision Discharge Records
Supervision ends through the authority that imposed or administered it. For a TDCJ parole or mandatory-supervision case, obtain the TDCJ status or discharge information and request the agency record when a durable copy is needed. Discharge means the sentence or supervision obligation has formally ended. It should not be confused with the earlier date the person left prison.
For Oldham probation, begin with the court file. Ask the County/District Clerk for the judgment, community-supervision order, later modifications, and the completion or discharge filing. The serving CSCD can confirm permitted supervision information and current assignment. There is no statewide public probationer locator equivalent to TDCJ's inmate search, so the cause number and court order are central.
Government Code Chapter 508 governs Texas parole, mandatory supervision, warrants, and related authority. Court community supervision is governed through the criminal judgment and applicable Texas law. Final discharge does not by itself erase the criminal case or release record. Expunction and nondisclosure are separate legal processes with their own eligibility and effects.
The broader Oldham County release-record chain is covered on the Oldham County released inmates search. Use it when the question is the original physical departure rather than the later supervision or discharge status.
